Two sonnets, " On the Sonnet" by John Keats and " Nuns fret not at their convent's slim room" by simply William Wordsworth, address a similar subject, the restrictions with the sonnet. In spite of the same subject matter, they procedure these limitations using diverse forms and imagery, every has his own opinion of the subject.

Keats begins his sonnet using a great allusion via Greek mythology: Andromeda, a princess chained to a mountain and in risk of being devoured by a marine monster. It was his main idea and criticism in the structure from the sonnet--if poets are chained by the Shakespearean or German format, the sonnet will eventually lose its nature and be devoured over time. This individual advises his fellow sonneteers to " fit the naked foot of poesy", like us wearing shoes or boots by breaking the rhythm and imposing imagination on the kind, so the sonnet can go through. Keats` additional allusion should be to King Midas and his rare metal; he uses Midas expressing how miserly poets must be with their phrases and not to use clichГ©s, " dead leaves in the bay-wreath crown". His last meaning is to the Muse-Greek empress of art-to express the creativeness and freedom necessary for the beauty of poems.

With " the weight of a lot of liberty", poetry is as restricted as ever, states Wordsworth. This vibrant imagery makes plain what writing a sonnet is centered on: a personal decision to cycle ourselves since we enjoy this. It is sometimes better to enjoy in a " scanty plan of ground" then tell you the great open areas and be lost and baffled. The constraints are the actual it more difficult and pushes us to create something even more beautiful than simply prose. Wordsworth finds tranquility in a restricted sonnet, just like us once we lock ourself...
